We started with one house in 2014. Now we have 24.
It started simply. We bought our first rental, fixed it up the way we'd want to live in it, and rented it to a family who needed a home. Twelve years later that philosophy hasn't changed — we just have more keys on the ring.
What's also stayed the same: every Solid Ground property is owned by our family — not a fund or an out-of-state investor. Every lease is signed with us. Every late-night plumbing call is answered by us. We don't have a portfolio manager you've never met. We're at the hardware store on Saturdays just like you. Our daughter Olivia Hacker helps run the day-to-day — tenant communication, leases, and maintenance coordination. Our son John owns two of the homes as well, managed by us right alongside the rest.
Our properties are concentrated around Morehead, Clearfield, Hillsboro, and the Sharkey corridor toward Cave Run Lake — places we know because we live here too.
